Aldo Bianchi, geboren in San Gimignano, verliet Toscane voor de Tweede Wereldoorlog om zijn fortuin te zoeken in Noord-Italië. In 1960, toen hij terugkeerde naar het gebied voor een bruiloft, werd hij betoverd door het uitzicht vanaf het terras van het kasteel van Monsanto: het hele Val d'Elsa met de onvergelijkbare achtergrond van de torens van San Gimignano. Een blikseminslag waardoor hij het pand in een paar maanden tijd heeft gekocht. Maar als Aldo door het landschap werd betoverd, werd zijn zoon Fabrizio onmiddellijk verliefd op de wijnen die hij in de kelder vond. Dankzij de passie van zijn grootmoeder voor wijn en zijn aangeboren ondernemersgeest is Fabrizio, samen met de onvermoeibare hulp van zijn vrouw Giuliana, begonnen met het aanplanten van nieuwe wijngaarden en de renovatie van de vele boerderijen. ....... vanaf hier begint een ongelooflijk verhaal van liefde, passie en vreugde voor wijn en alles wat er omheen ligt.
